The arrival of the 964 Turbo marks a new era for Porsche. Introduced in 1990 with the 3.3-litre engine originally inherited from the 930, the 964 Turbo range was already a technological showcase. However, Porsche, under pressure from competition from cars such as the Ferrari F40 and Jaguar XJ220, needed to push its limits to maintain its reputation as a sports car manufacturer par excellence. In 1993, Porsche introduced the 964 Turbo 3.6, an improved version of the Turbo.
