A savage Zagato COUPE
The Lancia Hyena wasn’t conceived in the Turin design studios. Instead, it sprang from the vision of Paul Koot, a Dutch Lancia importer with a deep admiration for the Delta Integrale. In 1992, he partnered with Zagato, the renowned Milanese coachbuilder, to reimagine the Integrale as a sleeker, lighter, more refined machine : the Hyena.
Using the Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione as a base, Zagato stripped away the rear doors, reshaped the body in lightweight aluminium and carbon fiber, and gave it a coupé silhouette. It was a hand-built, labor-intensive, and entirely exclusive transformation.

Tecnical data of THE HYENA
Beyond the bodywork, the Hyena featured significant performance advantages. Thanks to its 200 kg weight reduction, it became even more agile than the donor car. The 2.0L turbocharged 16V engine, now producing 250 hp, combined with all-wheel drive, made for a brutal yet balanced driving experience.
With bulging fenders, twin round headlights, and a cabin trimmed in leather, carbon and aluminum, the Hyena channeled rally aggression with Italian refinement. Shorter and more focused than the Integrale, it was as sharp to drive as it looked.

An ultra LIMITED SERIES
The plan was to produce 500 cars, but Lancia refused to support the project. That meant Koot had to purchase each Delta Integrale at full price, disassemble it, and send it to Zagato for manual conversion.
In the end, just 24 Hyena were ever built between 1992 and 1996. Today, this rarity and craftsmanship make it one of the most desirable hidden gems among collectors. Each one is subtly unique, exuding raw charm and exclusive character.
The Lancia Hyena represents everything daring about 1990s car culture: a creation driven by passion, free from corporate constraints. It carries the rally DNA of Lancia, the artistic hand of Zagato, and the romantic madness of an enthusiast determined to bring a vision to life. To see one today is a true automotive event, a car as rare as it is remarkable, as fast as it is fashionable, and as emotional as the road itself.
The car presented at Timeless Classics is from 1994. First registered in Germany, it then spent a few years in the UK before being re-imported to Germany. It is presented in 100% original condition, with around 6,000 km on the clock.
