Italian sporty ELEGANCE

Combining performance and refinement, the 1960 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Veloce is the epitome of Italian automotive design. More than just a convertible, this Veloce version adds an extra touch of dynamism to a car already acclaimed for its style and driving pleasure.

At the end of the 1950s, Alfa Romeo sought to capitalise on the success of the Giulietta, a range that reflected the brand's revival after the Second World War. After the Sprint saloon and coupé, the Giulietta Spider appeared in 1955, designed by Pininfarina. Its elegant design, combined with a powerful engine, quickly made it a benchmark among European roadsters. For lovers of sportier driving, Alfa Romeo launched the Giulietta Spider Veloce, a lighter and more powerful version for enthusiasts looking for a thrill.

Sharp ENGINEERING

Under the bonnet, the 1960 Giulietta Spider Veloce is powered by a 1,290 cm³ in-line 4-cylinder engine that develops 90 bhp thanks to the adoption of a twin Weber carburettor and optimised valve timing. This increase in power, coupled with a light weight of around 860 kg, means that the Spider Veloce offers a livelier, more engaging driving experience, with a 0 to 100 km/h time of less than 12 seconds. Its well-balanced chassis and independent front suspension give it exemplary handling for its time. Add to this a precise and pleasant 4-speed manual gearbox, and you have a car that's ideal for corner after corner on the curvy roads of the Italian coast.

A timeless STYLE

One of the Giulietta Spider Veloce's greatest assets is its design by Pininfarina. With its flowing lines, harmonious curves and iconic ‘scudetto’ grille, it is the perfect embodiment of Italian elegance. Its cabin, though uncluttered, boasts meticulous instrumentation and a quality finish that is true to Alfa Romeo's expertise.

Produced in limited numbers compared to the standard version, the Giulietta Spider Veloce is today a particularly sought-after Italian classic cars enthusiasts. Its perfect blend of sportiness and refinement makes it an essential part of any Alfa Romeo collection.

An exceptional MODEL

The model presented by Nicolas Maier at Timeless Classics was sold new by the Alfa Romeo importer in Paris to its first owner, a chemist in Lille, France.

The car has had only three owners since it was put on the road. The last one put it into storage in 2000. It retains around 50% of its original paintwork and has never been restored.

The interior is remarkably well preserved, with original carpets throughout. Equipped with two Weber carburettors, specific instruments, an electric fuel pump, a dedicated manifold and the rare air filter, this Giulietta Spider Veloce has benefited from a complete mechanical restoration to its original specification.

Only 1,203 examples of this exclusive version were produced.
